For all of you who are like me and still participate in strenuous activities such as tennis, yardwork, long distance biking and the like, I just read an interesting ad in the Beacon which promises an amazing new solution for knee pain. I have suffered with extreme knee pain due to osteo arthritis for almost ten years and there appears to be no permanent relief, other than a knee replacement. Conditions such as this don't heal on their own and traditional surgery is not a solution because the joint injuries are pervasive and are small deteriorations in ligament tissue.
So my solutions have been to take ibuprofen before and after aggressive activity, ice my knee for 30 minutes afterward and play tennis and other activities in moderation. Not cutting edge, but it does allow me to continue to pursue fitness activities on a controlled basis.
That said, has anyone ever heard of the Osteo Arthritis Centers of America? And if so, have you heard if this procedure is legitimate?
